RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Business Development Manager (BDM) will be responsible for building market position by locating, developing, defining, negotiating, and closing business relationships with existing and prospective clients.   The BDM will provide the commercial acumen and drive to make a difference to continue the growth of the business.

The Business Development Manager will be accountable for: ​

  • Achieving their Sales / Revenue budget.

  • Identifying new revenue opportunities by researching organisations and individuals

  • Contacting potential clients to establish rapport and arrange meetings.

  • Planning and overseeing new marketing initiatives.

  • Increasing the value of current customers by developing new solutions.

  • Finding and developing new markets and improving sales.

  • Attending conferences, meetings, and industry events.

  • Developing quotes and proposals for clients.

Candidate Profile: ​

We find that successful candidates are usually seasoned sales and account management professionals with a track record of delivering solutions over products. They generally have the following profile: ​

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • A burning desire to help people succeed being someone who finds helping people rewarding.

  • A problem solver by nature, who considers no challenge is too great.

  • Experienced at wearing a few hats at once, who can thrive in less structured environments.

  • Is relationship driven and not transactional being able to maintain a big picture outlook rather than a short-term gain mentality.

  • A desire to help build a company as a team player, whilst playing a key leadership role.

  • A track record of success within a sales driven organisation

  • Superb relationship management and account management skills 

  • A good negotiator that understands solution selling.

  • Ability to work in a highly dynamic environment.

  • An energetic individual who demonstrates dedication, passion and enthusiasm and brings that with them to work everyday.

Qualifications and Experience: ​

Practical experience is a key requirement for our customers when choosing a business development manager. In addition, they expect:

  • Relevant academic qualifications in business or other such as bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or related field.

  • Have least 4 years experience in sales, marketing or related field with direct sales responsibility.

  • Strong communication skills and IT fluency.

  • Ability to manage complex projects and multi-task.

  • Excellent organisational skills.

  • Ability to flourish with minimal guidance, be proactive, and handle uncertainty.

  • Proven experience in confidently engaging stakeholders at all levels (internal/external) including taking the lead in client workshops

  • Able to prioritise competing demands effectively to meet business outcomes and manage project financials.

  • High quality written work (proposals, requirements, general written communication)

  • Track record of success in managing complex, enterprise accounts

  • Have proven excellent relationship building skills

  • Expert Time Management skills.
