“Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement.” – Helen Keller

Thanks for following Cazoot's Monday Mojo posts! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do researching them. This week's post is inspired by the extraordinary Helen Keller.

When you think you have it tough and are constantly facing challenges and adversity, consider Helen Keller's story. A noted author, political activist, and lecturer who has left an indelible mark on the literary landscape, was deaf and blind. In fact, she was the first deaf-blind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree.

I'm always inspired both those who not only overcome adversity but excel in life. How do they do it?

“Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement.” – Helen Keller

In this short quote, I think Keller highlights what I consider to be one of the key ingredients to success - optimism. Aka, a positive attitude.

I know - it can be extremely difficult to retain a sense of optimism when the world starts weighing you down and it appears the chips are stacked against you. But succumbing to a bad situation with negativity and bitterness generally just makes things worse - so better to be optimistic - don't you think?

Ever interviewed someone who just bemoaned how bad things were and how unfairly they've been treated, and they never got the recognition they deserved? Did you employ them?

Let's face it if you had a choice of having a pessimist or an optimist on your team who would you choose? I know which one I would choose!

  • The one who can see the challenge but isn't swayed by the difficulties that might be presented.

  • The one who sees the positives in a situation and chooses to focus on them and not bitch and moan about the negatives. The see the glass half full versus not half empty.

On reflection, I reckon that the optimists and positive people I have worked with and played sport with have generally had more success. They've certainly seemed a lot happier and fun to be with. Coincidence?

So even if you are doing it tough today, believe in yourself and stay positive. Be optimistic, trust in yourself and keep going - you know you can achieve your goals. But if you don't believe and you aren't optimistic about the future, how can anyone else believe in you and your goals?

Success maybe only one step, one call or one day away.

Have a great week!!
